Julianna Monet is a textile designer and color specialist from the sunshine state of Florida, USA. Inspired by her family’s roots and deep love for the community, Julianna has paved the way for her own creative expression within the textile arts. Through historical influences and material studies, she is interested in how the power of story, myth, and belief shapes self-reflective narratives and the transcendence of ideas. Composing human connection through tactile elegance, her work explores the depth of emotion and memory by walking a tightrope between the intricate and the serendipitous. Captivatingly colorful and truthfully textual, she strives to adjoin the dreams of yesterday with the promise of tomorrow like constellations of the night sky.
Once upon a time…
Much of Julianna Monet’s core inspiration comes from her previous chapter within the performing arts. For 13 years, Julianna entertained guests at Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios. During her time there, she fell in love with giving people a reason to smile and connect with their imagination. She saw first hand how stories have an impact on hearts from all across the globe and cherished the chance to be a part of such rare magic. As Julianna went on to pursue an education in textiles, the echos of this special time in her life have found ways of influencing her artistic vision and creative values within her craft and work ethic.

Ah, that IS the question, isn’t it? Well, I know that I would like to continue towards furthering my education with a masters program in textiles. One day, I would love to teach at a university and help creatives find their voice——but this is a longterm plan of mine so at the moment, I am working on my understanding of my art form. Building a body of work and fine tuning a craft…well, it’s almost like building an intimate relationship. You take one day at a time and slowly learn about the other person as well as yourself. And in turn, you create something beautiful and worthy of life.

I am always up for a little collaboration! I am building upon a body of work to apply for a masters program currently, but would love the chance to chat about some future endeavors with other creatives. Feel free to email me or simply fill out the contact form at the top of the site and let’s chat!
** One quick note, I am not taking full costume commissions at this time but can help with specific aspects of your costume. Just shoot me a message and I can talk about how I might be able to help!

Yes! It will never stop being a part of my life! Costume work is a form of expression at the core of who I am and why I pursued to study textiles. At times I like to take a step back from focusing completely on costume work, but don’t worry…there is always something brewing in my mind.

At this moment, no. However, I fully believe in giving back to the creative community and helping others achieve their dreams, so this is something I am working towards in the very near future!
